Welcome to The House of Learning

The House of Learning (HOL) offers its classes with the purpose to see Jesus followers grow in their knowledge of God and the scriptures and gain an understanding of how to study scriptures and theology on their own.

All of our teachers have a passion for learning and a heart for sharing wisdom and precepts from the scriptures. Our hope is that you will not only grow in knowledge, but that you will be able to practically apply what you've learned to live on mission in greater ways.

God & Women

Description

In this class for women, we will discuss God's invitation to be defined not by what you do but by who you are created to be. In a three-part series, we'll explore what it means to reflect the image and glory of God in uniquely female ways:

Identity — Who am I designed to be? how does God define me? What's my role?

Sexuality — How does God see sexuality? What does this mean for my past, and how does this play out in my present?

Legacy — What was given, or not given, to me? how do I reclaim what's missing? When and how do I create a legacy of my own?

Generous

Description

Generous is a Biblically based financial class that teaches what God tells us about managing the blessings he gives us. During this class we will discuss the things of this world that distract and pull us away from God’s plan. In the first section, we examine ways to manage spending through a budget and communication between spouses and accountability partners that help us stay on the right path. Financial problems and stress breakdown communication and relationships like few things in this world. God has created us in a way that, through his plan, we can work together to be filled with his blessings. The second section, we covers savings and what the Bible says about the importance of preparing for future needs and emergencies that are a very real part of our lives.

Generous describes God’s attitude towards providing for our needs and the abundance that we see when we follow his guidance. The third section, we study why we are called to give back to God and what that looks like. There is a greater purpose to our giving than an obligation or duty. The goal of this class is to examine God’s plan and work together to apply this to our everyday lives in a way that affects every aspect of your Christian walk.

The class will be broken into classroom instruction and small groups led by our coaches. These coaches are financial professionals and people who have been through financial struggles and want to help others with their Biblical plan for their finances. These breakout groups give you the ability to connect to a coach and discuss specific situations in more detail and ask the hard questions.
